PERSEPSI MASYARAKAT TERHADAP TRADISI BIRAU DI KABUPATEN BULUNGAN PROVINSI KALIMANTAN UTARA

Abstract

Birau tradition, which is held annually, has various perceptions among the community, seeing from the phenomenon of the Birau Tradition which is increasingly quiet every year, not as busy as the years before due to lack of budget for implementation and public interest in participating in enlivening the Birau tradition. The purpose of this research is to analyze public perceptions of Birau, to analyze the implication of Birau in public lives and the factors of the Birau tradition which are still maintained. This research method uses a descriptive approach and uses a qualitative analysis method which is often called a qualitative descriptive approach. Data observation techniques using observation, interviews ,and documentation. The results of this study indicate the public perceptions of the Birau tradition in Bulungan Regency are seen from the selection, interpretation ,and perception that have positive results and are highly approved by the community in the implementation process because they have a very good impact on society, and have a very influential effect on people’s lives. Then the factors and by the objectives of implementing the Birau tradition, efforts to preserve and increase the potential of the indigenous customs and culture of Bulungan Regency, provide community entertainment and deliver information on the results of regional development and as a tourism promotion medium is and efforts to attract tourists.
