PERAN MEDIA SOSIAL DAN “TEMAN AHOK” DALAM MENDORONG PERUBAHAN SOSIAL

Abstract


This research aims to describes and analyze the Ahok’s Supporters that are called "Teman Ahok" (Ahok’s Friends) as pioneers of young volunteers who use social media to campaign all the activities and performance ofthe Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) and for addressing the problems that occur during the nomination process to Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) in order to advance in election of Governor DKI Jakarta in 2017. This study is a qualitative research with descriptive design. The results of this study also show that the "Teman Ahok" is included in the category of pioneering. It is in line with indicators that belong to "Teman Ahok" in the definition of pioneering according toThe Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora). The results of this study also show that social media has a significant role in a social movement to encourage a social change. Similar to this study that tries to see the use of social media which is used as a strategy in the social movements in the hope of encouraging the creation of social change. In the context of this study, the researcher tried to see the extent to which the use of social media by the "Friends Ahok" is a strategy to campaign all the activities and performance of the Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) to advance in the election of Governor and Vice Governor of the Jakarta in 2017.
